The Helix is built from two separate walls of borosilicate glass. The outside is smooth and straight. The inside is twisted into a deep spiral that runs from the base all the way to the rim, so your drink has to climb it. An iced latte becomes a ribbon of dark and light winding up through the glass. Do these come with straws?
No. The set is four glasses on their own. They work perfectly well with any standard straw if you use one, and just as well without.
Will the outside get hot if I pour hot coffee in?
No. That is the whole point of the sealed double wall. The heat stays in the inner chamber with your drink rather than moving out to the surface you are holding.
How big is 280ml really?
A little under a standard can of soft drink. It takes a double flat white or a cortado comfortably, and an iced latte with a proper amount of ice. If you drink very large mugs of filter coffee, this will feel neat rather than generous.
Can they go in the dishwasher?
Yes, on a normal cycle. Stand them upright on the top rack where they will not knock against heavier items.
Is double walled glass fragile?
It is glass, so it will not survive a drop onto a tiled floor. What borosilicate handles far better than ordinary glass is thermal shock, which is the thing that actually cracks most glassware in everyday use.
Why is there no handle?
Because the double wall means you do not need one. A handle on a glass like this would add a weak point and take up cupboard space for no benefit.
