Perché il legno massello di acacia è migliore del legno pressato
La maggior parte dei vassoi "di legno" che troverete sugli scaffali della cucina non sono in realtà di legno. Sono in MDF, ovvero segatura pressata tenuta insieme con colla e sigillata sotto un sottilissimo rivestimento di legno stampato. Rimangono perfetti per un anno, poi iniziano a scrostarsi, a gonfiarsi sui bordi e a scheggiarsi agli angoli.
L'acacia è l'esatto opposto. Legno tropicale naturalmente denso, resiste all'acqua, ai graffi e all'usura quotidiana dovuta all'appoggio di tazze su vassoi per anni. Le venature non sbiadiscono. I bordi non si scheggiano. Con il tempo sviluppa una delicata patina anziché deteriorarsi. Un solo vassoio, usato quotidianamente, durerà più a lungo di qualsiasi alternativa in laminato che possiate acquistare.

Yes, with one exception. Cups with a wooden handle should be washed by hand so the wood keeps its finish. Everything else goes straight in.
